First Church of Rutland
This is a quarterly that discusses the first church in Rutland, which was also the first organized church in Rutland County. The quarterly commemorated the 200th anniversary of the church, which was founded on October 20, 1773. The church is no longer there because it was torn down in 1885, but its historical significance is still honored. The quarterly also talks about the lives of some of the pastors of the church. It tells us about the life of the first Pastor in Rutland, Benjah Roots, and also discusses the life of Pastor William Emerson from Concord, Massachusetts, who was involved in the Revolutionary War. The quarterly also tells us about Pastor Lemuel Haynes, the pastor from 1788 to 1818.
